Drugs in Dementia
The Alzheimer Society of KFL&A had keynote speaker Dr. Frank Molnar, Director of the Regional Geriatric Program of Eastern Ontario address “Drugs in Dementia”. The event took place at the Waterford Retirement Residence with a mixed audience of persons with dementia and their families, caregivers, residents of the Waterford Residence and health care workers. The presentation highlights were about the "3 Ds" - Depression, Delirium and Dementia and how to identify and treat them. Alzheimer's disease is the most common of a larger group of disorders known as "dementias". Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and giving your brain a workout are but a few of the suggestions to help slow the progression of Alzheimer's Disease. Challenging your brain doesn't have to be difficult. It can be as simple as dialing the phone with your less dominant hand or as complex as learning a new language.
