Canadians for Women in Afghanistan

Canadians for Women in Afghanistan hosted its 8th Annual Fundraising Gala, Imagining Afghanistan: Canadian and Afghan Hopes and Perspectives, featuring Assistant Deputy Minister William Crosbie who served as the most recent Canadian Ambassador to Afghanistan.  Mr. Crosbie spoke passionately to a crowd of around 200 people and urged Canadians to build on the powerful legacy created by Canada in the past decade. Mr. Crosbie also complimented the work of the local chapter of Canadians for Women in Afghanistan, which raised $10,000.00 at this event, bringing their total to $130,000.00 since 2003. The mission of the organization is to raise awareness about the plight of women in Afghanistan and to raise funds to support their continued empowerment – with the largest focus on education and literacy training. Canadians for Women in Afghanistan is a registered Canadian charity. Donations are always welcome to either the organization in general to support its projects, or to the Shafia Fund. For further information about the organization, see the website at www.cw4wafghan.ca
